MARTIN COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – “This is our 13th Annual Bustin’ for Badges event. We’re excited to see all the people here supporting law enforcement. And it’s always a good time to come see everybody come every year. You know, it’s always a good time to eat, fellowship, and shoot some clays. It’s always a good time. We really enjoy this event. All four local law enforcements get the funds from this event, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Midland County Sheriff’s Office, MPD and OPD. And with this money, they use it to buy vests. They buy it to, I know Midland PD last year used it to buy drones. It’s just, it gives them the extra equipment to catch bad guys,” said Executive Vice President of Bustin’ for Badges Jimmy Young.
“The funds we get from this event go towards purchases that are not within our budget. So, like this year, we’re going to buy a lot of SWAT equipment. And in the past, we’ve bought drones and vehicles and, you know, just whatever we need at the time. And it’s invaluable. This event is invaluable. We’re so thankful that they have this year after year. It’s very, I’m honored and humbled by all the support of the communities, the companies that come out here and support us year after year. It’s their money that they’re spending out here to help us. And I’m so thankful to those individuals, all the companies. There’s not words available that express my appreciation to all those folks,” said Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis.
The event continues through Friday at Windwalker Farms. Organizers said you can still go support local law enforcement, even if you didn’t get a ticket for the clay shoot.
